Hair Removal Procedure InformationHair removal systems remove hair by destroying the hair bulb and thus impairing any hair re-growth. When an IPL or laser device is used (we use what we consider the best in the industry, the Luminis-One, Galaxy-HR or Sonata) a cool gel and a hand-held treatment head are gently applied to the skin. Then, in a flash, a pulse of light safely penetrates the skin and destroys the hair follicles simultaneously. When the gel is removed, much of the hair is wiped off with it. The remaining hair in the treated area falls out within a week or two. For different areas of the body different wavelength-filters are used so as to obtain a customized approach. When using IPL the skin is also rejuvenated. The Sonata diode laser is one of the fastest lasers for hair removal, firing at less than one-second intervals and we use it for large body areas such as legs and men's backs. In order to reduce the discomfort, a Zimmer cooling system is used concurrently as the treatment is carried out. The number of treatments varies depending upon your hair color and location on the body. Depending on the area being treated, three to six treatments may be necessary because there are many dormant hairs that have not grown to the surface of the skin. Each session may last 10 to 30 minutes.
